Mist hung in the air the morning this image was taken. Soft light was filtering through creating a kind of breathless, dreamlike atmosphere. I was drawn to the twisting branches of a tree in silhouette against the light and to add the spooky mood, a blackbird flying to and fro.

The Story
This image is from one of the most beautiful mornings I’ve ever experienced. It was incredibly misty but bright summer sun shone through illuminating everything around with a golden glow. As I was walking towards some trees I noticed a herd of deer crossing the path in front of me. They walked by between the trees, casually, gracefully, pausing occasionally to look over at me with curiosity.

At roughly 6:00 am on an incredibly foggy morning, the world was shrouded in white and in mystery. Everything seemed to be disappearing before my eyes and it felt like being in a strange land. Within half an hour I was lost in a place I know so well and completely alone. Well, almost completely. From out of nowhere the silhouette of a man appeared and disappeared again, ghostlike through the trees.

The Story
This image is from a recent road trip, East to West across America. One morning we woke up at dawn to watch the sunrise at the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes of Death Valley. When we first arrived, the scene was filled with soft pinks and dusty pastel colours, the dunes appeared smooth and flat. But as the sun rose, strong vibrant light revealed the patterns and textures in the sand and threw into dramatic light and shade the shape of the dunes.

In beautiful Richmond Park, it was another world out there at sunrise. Taken in late summer, a misty and golden scene.
